Katelyn Dorance, Student Assistant

Katelyn Dorane is a freshman at the University of Miami from Long Island, New York. The University of Miami has always been one of her dream schools, and she is beyond excited to embrace all the diverse opportunities Miami has to offer. Before graduating summa cum laude from her high school class, she was an active volunteer history and science tutor in her community. She was also a member of her high school ethics bowl team, where she developed a passion for connecting philosophy, history, and literature into one discipline. While working for the center, Katelyn hopes to develop personal connections with her mentors and further explore her interests in the humanities. She is majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with hopes of one day attending medical or graduate school. While attending the University of Miami, she plans to also minor in Philosophy and Italian. She is also currently apart of the UM Ethics Society, science olympiad, and the fishing team. Her ultimate career goal is to conduct gene therapy and examine the bioethical implications behind this developing area of science.
